Lyra's Mech by Foxi-5 Lyra's Mech by Foxi-5
And... another quickie lo-res paint. Lyra's mech.

Who would have guessed that Lyra is a hand to hand, brawling expert? What better pilot and mech to help the Princess of the Night's weapons ballista?

Now they can go chase Queen Chrysalis together...

Luna’s Mech -> Night Wraith [link]
Lyra's Mech -> Lyrian Brawler [link]
Rainbow Dash’s Mech -> Thunderbow [link]
Derpy’s Mech -> Crossfire [link]
Big Mac’s Mech -> Hellshock [link]
Applejack’s Mech -> Chaos Maul [link]
Fluttershy's Mech -> Razorwing [link]
Pinkie Pie's Mech -> Overkill [link]
Twilight’s Mech -> Adjudicator [link]

Yes, you can repost if desired. (However it's not to be used for commercial purposes)

Consolidated Edits:

It's called the Lyrian Brawler.

Why is Princess Celestia face-hoofing? She is in recall mode; the royal psychologist told her that Luna should meet new friends and engage in team building exercises to help develop her interpersonal skills. However, she just didn't realize that it would lead to something like this...

*Peaks* Looks like a 80-tonner, no particularly heavy parts aside from the arms 4 LRM 6s and a pair of AC/2s, 4 SRMs,

Could be Rotary Autocannons! Then it would be quite heavy!

Rotary or no, building a mech to fight like the Atlas when it's meant for brawling isn't a good idea
An 80-ton, lightly armed mech with heavy armor should be able to move fast, take hits, and get into manhandling range better.

I only have one problem with this hand-to-hand specialist mech... The hands have no wrists, and the fingers can't bend backwards a lot. This would pose a problem if there was a mech punch coming and there wasn't time for a block, but rather the need for a grapple was needed (where the defender uses a palm to absorb a hit), this mech would not be able to do such thing. Otherwise this could do well at just about everything else. Nice work.

I wonder why the mech is bipedal. Mechs are more or less thought to follow humanoid shape to be easier to understand how to balance them and all that...

Not to menction that quadrupedal mechs also exist and are cool. :3

Sample: www.sarna.net/wiki/images/e/e8…

Cool mech nevertheless...

yeah but if a quadrupedal mech gets one of it's leg heavily damaged its pretty much knocked out....

Same goes for the bipedal, then?
With just one leg operative, it'd just be able to crawl.

(Just wondering)

no on a standard two legged mech if one leg gets heavily damaged and can't work properly its still able to stand and move about but it will be basically dragging the damaged leg around if the hydraulics/actuators are shot...and it will be moving at a snails pace, making it an inviting target. if you played the mechwarrior games you'll know what i mean.

I don't just talk about the Mechwarrior physics, but I also base my talk from the perspective of the BattleTech board game (same universe), where one destroyed leg tends to mean you're stuck at prone status until the end of the match.

To add to the logic, since when did MechWarrior saga have any Quad mech? I can't remember any. I have just seen those on BattleTech.

If you want to preserve the pilot arrive, usual option tends to be ejecting and trying to find cover or flee from the board.

I am aware about Mechwarrior, but interestingly, the only chance of damage on that saga seems to be slowing down the legs, and therefore movement capability. In a more realistic environment, the leg could be lost, and therefore, the mech would have less chances of locomotion than if it'd still keep 3 legs, at least to some point...

Just try to compare a limping person with a limping animal. I've seen animals with 3 legs that could run with more or less agility. A one-legged person would have its issues to move quick.

the slowing down in mechwarrior 3 and onwards....that was an added feature, too many people who played mechwarrior 1&2 were complaining that when one of their legs was destroyed they were basically immobile as the entire leg came off and they could not finish the mission they were on. the mechwarrior game universe is slighty different to the BattleTech one in the sence that they never used ANY of the ones from BattleTech side that could actually grip other mechs...unless you count the Atlas mech that has actual hands on it but even they are unused....

Yeah, that's something I've always been missing on MechWarrior... Meelee combat, grabbing, punching, kicking, that sort of stuff, even if it would have been in a basic way.

:iconpilotsolaris::iconsaysplz: Developed alongside the TX-172 "Night Wraith"-class Combat Battle Walker, the TX-189 "Lyrian Brawler"-class Antimecha Battle Walker was designed to get up close and personal with Changeling "Super-Strider"-class Attack Mechas during the Changeling War while still being able to neutralize a target from a distance. While it saw little action in the Changeling War contrary to its "sister" Battle Walker, the TX-172, its impact was still felt and the "Lyrian Brawler" still stands as a favorite in popular culture, with many fillies and colts playing "Lyrian Brawler" as a pastime. When the Crystal War broke out, the TX-189 became, alongside its "sister", the TX-172, the most commonly seen "Pony" Line Battle Walker on the battlefield due to its ability to take down even the CV-102 "Destroyer"-class Juggernaut Mecha used by King Sombra's forces. While it primarily relies on its hands and its massive combat "knife" and "sword", its arsenal includes 2 shoulder-mounted Gatling Cannons, 1 shoulder-mounted Antiaircraft Missile Launcher, 1 back-mounted Missile Pod, and 2 arm-mounted Light Railcannons, as well as 2 standard cockpit-mounted antipersonnel machine guns.

Your mech designs are solid. I enjoy looking at them, they are pleasing to the eye. Your backgrounds add to the overall picture. And I like the pony flight suits!
I have a question....You say this is a hand to hand combat mech, why so mqany "long range" weapons?

nice work but i have one 5,000$ question...

why would they make bipeds?

We think meks should be bipeds because we are self are bi pedal, conversely pony's being quadrupeds would make four legged meks.

:iconlunamlpplz::iconsaysplz:Well citizen, thy ponies do possess four legs, but thy front hooves allow for a utility need.
:iconohlunaplz::iconsaysplz:Plus many ponies possess magical talents, and such a feature wouldst resemble a mechanical tentacle in operation to lift things.
:iconprincesslunaummplz::iconsaysplz:By combining thy front hooves and using Lyra's favourite, hands and fingers, we can indeed mimic magical levitation of objects, in a sense, whilst providing the utility function.
:iconlunaughtyplz::iconsaysplz:A four legged, tentacle armed, pony mech just didn't quite seem appropriate, after our initial designs scarred thy young children of Canterlot.

I m not sure do killing entire race what is already dying from hunger as no pony will give tham love freely is somethink else than pure evil, even if you go with excuse that it is to put tham out of missery.
